Anxiety, Stress, & OCD
Anxiety and related problems like stress and OCD can have a significant impact on day-to-day life, creating a sense of overwhelming worry, persistent tension, and intrusive thoughts. Sometimes it might feel as though you’re trapped in an endless cycle of stressful thoughts, feelings, and efforts to cope - maybe by avoiding certain situations, or seeking reassurance, or over-preparing for stressful events. Whether your anxiety focuses on one particular topic, like your health or social interactions, or jumps endlessly from one stressor to the next, it can be incredibly exhausting to navigate day in and day out.
Regardless of how anxiety shows up in your life, it is typically very treatable. In my work with anxious clients, I help them to both (1) develop coping strategies to manage anxiety and (2) understand and address the root cause of the anxiety, so that the need for those coping strategies becomes less frequent. An important part of this process is creating a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their worries or intrusive thoughts in therapy, without fear or judgment, in order to help them feel less anxious and overwhelmed.
Treatment approaches typically used: Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), solution-focused therapy
